The story behind the panel

History

The Laura Fergusson Trust was established in 1967 to develop a positive support structure for people with disabilities who were residing in inappropriate institutional care.

The Wellington hostel was built in 1976. It fulfils a need for those who require some assistance with day to day living but wish to retain as much independence as possible - a basic human right that cannot be achieved in a hospital environment.
