Facilities and Grounds
Laura Fergusson Community is situated in a quiet beautiful location surrounded by a stream, hillside and lots of flora and fauna. Although semi-secluded and private we remain close to Naenae shopping centre, 5 minutes (by vehicle) to Westfield Mall Lower Hutt and there is a sheltered bus stop at close proximity.
Memorial Gardens
Our Jeanne Hunter memorial courtyard is located next to the main block. It is a space that has been set up as a courtyard and garden area that can be used for barbeques and entertaining or for residents who wish to relax under the sun shade.
There are plaques in this area to commemorate the efforts of previous Board of Trustees and Ladies Auxiliary members and also a memorial plaque for those members of the community that are no longer with us.
Resident Events & Outings
Throughout the year the residents of Laura Fergusson Community Wellington are often organising groups to go see various stage productions or stadium events. There are times when the Trust can provide the organisation and transport needed (funds permitting) for such events and other times the residents will arrange details of their own accord.
Residents also participate in some of the community events that are on offer such as Westpac Helberg Trust Round the Bays team that we join, February every year, to walk and wheel the 7.2km around the beautiful Oriental and Evans bays to Kilbirnie Park.
