Our Services

The Laura Fergusson Community Wellington offers a variety of services and adapts these to fit each resident's needs and aspirations.

Hostel Management

Partnership is promoted within the hostel environment through the active  contribution of residents to quality circles, and a variety of daily activities —i.e. gardening, cooking, planning and preparation of special events.

Many consumers contribute to the wider community through paid or voluntary employment, as well as being involved in various community leisure / interest groups.

Rehabilitation/Occupational Therapy

A comprehensive day-care programme benefits clients who are at home all day whilst support is given to those out and about in the wider community. Individuals are encouraged to set goals, and are supported to achieve them. Some activities take place “on site” and may be group or individual, whilst others involve community participation.

Health and Wellness

Health professionals such as district nurses and domiciliary therapists assist hostel staff to develop clients' maximum independence and mobility.

Our on site Nurse takes care of co-ordinating the day to day needs of each resident.

Respite Care

Laura Fergusson Community Wellington has Studio units and independent Flats available for short term respite care and transition periods. Respite care allows the person with a disability to have a break from their day to day lifestyle and the carers of the person with a disability to have a break from provision of that care – we respect the fact that 24 hour care is a challenging role.
