OT & Rehabilitation

Prior to admission prospective consumers are asked what they wish to achieve by coming to live at Laura Fergusson Community. There is an expectation from our funders and the Trust Board that community members be actively involved and contribute to the wider community.

Individual goals and objectives are discussed with each consumer and where resources allow support put in place for the consumer to achieve / work toward achieving their goal. (Info)

Resident Day Programmes

There are a number of activities we offer to residents at Laura Fergusson Wellington as part of daily life. Individuals are encouraged to set goals and are supported to achieve them.
Some of the groups available are Boccia Ball, Girls Can do Anything, Blokes Group, Gardening, Cooking programs, Social Quality Circle activities and a number of outside programmes that individuals go to such as Zumba, DRC, Library outings, Volunteering at SPCA, Primary Schools, Indoor Bowls, Craft groups and many more. Respite Care

 

Laura Fergusson Wellington provides respite care to those with physical disabilities throughout the year. A NASC assessment is needed prior to a place being offered. We provide a limited number of respite care beds and we have bookings well in advance. If you are interested in coming to stay for a period or may consider this option in the future please contact us on (04) 5676024 and we can arrange for you to come and have a look around the facility with one of our Management Team. (Info)

Health & Wellness

Health professionals such as district nurses and domiciliary therapists assist hostel staff to develop clients' maximum independence and mobility. Our on site Health & Wellness Manager  takes care of co-ordinating the day to day needs of each resident.
